Interpretating Vision

E-mail snippet:

Remember, though, everything you seen in vision can either be symbolic or literal. Unlike other abilities, you have to make a judgement call as to which it is. As you’ll soon learn, seeing isn’t necessarily understanding and visa versa. Sometimes messages will only make sense to whoever you’re reading for. There are times that an entire interpretation of a vision doesn’t even include you.

If scrying seems to work, try to do it every few days. Your sessions should be short and simple. You shouldn’t take answers literally or to heart. You’re learning, so these are just practice sessions.

Concentrate on a question, let yourself relax and gaze into your bowl.

Scrying is similar to reflecting your own mind at you. When you gaze into your bowl, you’re giving your ability something to focus and reflect itself off of. Sometimes, it makes it easier for people to see a vision.

If you like, try keeping a journal of your sessions. Write how it felt, what you saw, your interpretation and your question. If you have problems, or something you don’t understand, then write that down also! A journal helps you keep track of your unique symbology, track your progress and gives you something to learn from at a later date. If you ever wanted to, you could even use it to teach others.

Symbolism within vision is different for everyone. For an example, a crow could be a sign of death for you, but indicates secrets and unknown elements to others. Everyone learns their personal symbolism, even recording what certain symbols mean. Clairvoyance is a highly individualized ability, which means everyone works differently under different circumstances.

The above would apply to perception based abilities (excluding certain types of telepathy and empathy).

Again, I thought it would be good to share with everyone.

ADHD/ADD and Meditation

E-mail snippet:

Since ADHD/ADD are prone to hyperfocus, it can make meditation a little tricky. Despite common belief, people with ADHD/ADD have an abundance of attention, but an inability to regulate that attention. As a result, we have very short attention spans for normal tasks, but abundant attention spans for something that truly interests us. A symptom of that unregulated attention is hyperfocusing.

Hyperfocusing is a state of intense concentration. In effect, we are disconnecting from a physical reality to hook up to a world we create (something more subjective and mental). Unfortunately, hyperfocusing is much harder to turn off and redirect for people with ADHD/ADD. For a person that enjoys meditation, that means we create fantasy worlds that can slowly feel more real than physical reality.

Are you familiar with mind over matter?

When I was a child, I had a strict diet routine that rarely included sweets. When I wanted to taste something in particular, I would fall into a meditation and focus on a food that I liked. After a few moments, I could feel it rolling around my mouth and even taste it like a real, solid food, but all of it would be in my mind. An even more remarkable feat, though, is that I would feel full by eating something that I made up with my imagination.

In Psychic Development, meditation is a tool to teach students to focus and acheive a specific state of mind. It helps us accomplish psychic tasks or overcome obstacles. If you couple that with a mind that is prone to hyperfocusing, it’s like doubling that layer of focus and tipping it over a cliff. As previously stated, though, people with ADHD/ADD find it difficult to switch it off or redirect it. It’s that inability to switch it off or redirect it that traps us within a meditation.

Believe it or not, I’ve had a few students report getting stuck inside of a meditation. It was mostly experienced with guided imagry meditation, but someone reported it with mindfulness only once. To my full knowledge, it’s not a particularly dangerous occurance. It just scares people a little bit. If you allow yourself to relax and fall asleep, you should be fine.

I won’t stamp a guarentee on this. It’s something I’ve learned teaching students, so I tend to warn everyone with ADHD/ADD—just to be safe.

Everyone is different, but I thought it would be something interesting to post.
